Forester
A foresters goal is to protect and teach people how to protect the forest.

Education: Minimum of a Bachelors degree in forestry. This job is so popular you should get your masters degree.

Salary:Beginning - $30,000-$40,000
Full Time - $40,000-$78,000
Senior Forester - $90,000

Duties:Entry level foresters will be in the woods a majority of the time. An experienced foresterwill spend 80% of there time in the office. A foresters duties are to deal with loggers, government, representatives, farmers, special intrest groups, property owners, members of the public, and other forestry professionals and teach them about protecting the forest.

Typical Day:In an urban area a forester will work 8-9 hours a day. Field workers will work between 10-12 hours a day depending on the travel time to the site. Sometimes they have to drive or even fly to the site.

Requirements:1.You need to be comfortable spending long times in the woods, in all types of weather. 2. You need to understand the scince of forestry like biology. 3. You must be a good communicator so you can talk to people about the forest and teach them.

Availibility: Wisconsin has about 10 jobs available each year. Nationally there is about 260 jobs available each year.
